The Potty

Living with a toddler will make anyone go insane. The strange, creepy PBS shows (i.e. Teletubbies, Boobahs, Barney), the screaming and more screaming. How he loves grean beans more then anything one day, and tries to hide them in his diaper the next. Now he doesn't want his diaper changed! What's up with that? Who wants to sit around in thier own poop all day? So, I am attempting potty training. He's not 2 yet, and everyone says "don't even think about it until he is 2" but what else am I supposed to do? He likes the potty, he has fun sitting on it, so I figure now is a better time then ever, right? Right?!?

Hi Shai's Mom!

Do you have any interesting stories about Shai?

:)

I disagree with the experts. Kids are capable of being potty trained before 2. We did it right at two with my son so he could go to nursery school (it was a requirement).

The best thing we did? Bribing him with candy when he went potty and keeping cheerios in the bathroom for him to aim his pee stream at.

No! Annie, you don't want to hear any stories. Very boring. All about me sitting alone home on Saturday night pinching my pimples and dreaming of Murdock from the A-Team...yep. Nothing embarassing or anything.
Besides, mom is mad at me today for not picking her up on my way to the park with my son. She didn't say she wanted to go with us!

My son doesn't actually eat candy, so I can't really bribe him with that. I'm a health food freak and don't let my kid eat anything with satanic sugar in it (see the allergic to everything post...my son is also an allergic person). I'm teaching him to pee sitting down. I don't want to have to clean urine off my bathroom walls.
I think he does fine without nursery school. He is only 22 months old and knows his whole alphabet, he can say it and recognize allt he letters (both upper and lower case). He counts to 15, knows his colors and shapes, and has even learned the names of some of the dinosaurs! I think he is a genius. I'll post some of his art work on my blog later.

Each family is different. There's pros and cons to being at home and to working. I want to send him to preschool, but I don't know which one yet. I have time to think about it.
